Regardless of what the MAGA gaslighting secretaries of the US Commerce and Treasury Departments say, the central principle of the communist state is that the state owns and controls the means of production and property of the nation in the service of the people, on the whole, in the identity of the state, or nation-state. In fascism, totalitarian dictatorship [and oligarchy], private industry and oligarchy, on the one hand, and the state, on the other hand, are merged and the people, the common people in practice, are subjects of and serve the nation-state and this merger. Both are innovatively and technologically, apart from militarily, sluggish and narrow in scope compared to competitive, free-market, free-enterprise democratic and democratic-socialist nation-states that outlaw monopoly and quasi-monopoly economic enterprise and unfair and corrupt economic or business competition (the Peoples Republic of China is now a mixed-economy, an overlapping communist, private-enterprise and state-capitalism, nation-state and is at least as societally, scientifically and technologically innovative and competitive as the most materially and functionally developed democratic-capitalist or democratic-socialist nation-states). In the atypical situation of Intel Inc., if because of its already federally recognized special technological value to the nation of the USA warranting that it receive a virtually national-security-related federal Chips and Science Act grant for the specific purpose of it enhancing and expanding the production of its nationally vital silicon chips technology, then it should be awarded the federal grant money of its Chips and Science Act grant for it to use to fulfill its contracted or otherwise agreed upon grant purpose pertaining to the Act, according to the scheduled, or adjustably scheduled, release of the funds to it, Intel Inc.  However, the federal government's purchased equity ownership share in certifiably financially troubled Intel Inc., in which, according to the financial news reports on Intel Inc., it has scaled down rather than scaled up its research-and-development and manufacturing operations as well as its staff for accomplishing these missions as required of it by its Chips and Science Act grant agreement, is an evident workaround its in-process failure to meet its commitment to fulfilling its grant specific purpose for qualifying to receive the large-majority remainder balance of the grant and is an alternative funding avenue for nevertheless providing Intel Inc. with money it needs to survive or better make its way financially, in the name of or in reference to the Chips and Science Act, rather than to fulfill its Chips and Science Act grant-contingent specific purpose.  Lutnick asserted to the effect that a Trumpian maganomics re-rendering of the Chips and Science Act funding for Intel Inc. was doing a better job financially for the American people, a stance which, in view of Intel Inc.'s downsizing of its operations and staff, held no sincere and factual substance since Intel Inc. no longer qualified to receive the balance of the Chips and Science Act contingent-grant funding set aside for it.  In addition, the federal government's purchased equity stake in Intel Inc. insulated Intel Inc. If these MAGA presidential administration gaslighters say that the taxpayer money is not to financially rescue or make the companies financially secure, then why is the taxpayer money being provided to them in exchange for a US government ownership stake in them? Don't be gaslighted and suckered by them. If MAGA did not rescue or stabilize them financially and they failed in a rash of big business and industry failures under maganomics, the MAGA presidential administration would be blamed for the rash, or worse, of the failures.

The only rational reason, even if a corrupt one, for the government purchasing an ownership stake in a company rather than providing it with a loan contingent on a loan contract with the therein stated and agreed-to loan's repayment terms and the company or its specified equitable assets pledged as foreclosure and sell-off collateral in the event of the company's default in meeting the terms of the loan contract, as is the standard practice with commercial lenders that provide loans to businesses and real property owners (real estate owners), would be for the government to more corruptly, as an act of government and/or political cronyism or favoritism, shelter the company from having to repay the money supplied to it by the government in the form of a loan and from having to pledge and risk itself or its specified assets as loan repayment collateral to either the government or, alternatively and more appropriately in exchange for a loan from it, a private commercial lender.

As a matter of unquestionable ethics and fairness in government policies and practices, government should never purchase an ownership stake in any company and should not issue a loan to a large business outside of a government lending program that is available to all large businesses as applicants, inasmuch as the Small Business Administration already has a lending program for small business applicants, and issues loans based on qualifying financial merit and loan collateral. The same general but scaled-up criteria should apply for a government loan program for large businesses.

When government vests itself financially in a company with its money, really taxpayer money in a democracy (for the USA, a Constitutional Bill of Rights (thereby Democratic-) Republic), by supplying the company significant money for an ownership stake in the company, it assumes a vested interest in protecting the financial solvency, profitability and marketplace competitive strength or advantage of that company and becomes the enduring, if not also the de-facto insuring, financial spigot of that company in its financially troubled or competitively adverse times.

Would the financial marriage or bonded relationship between the government and the company give the company and its principals special, undue access to and influence in or on government compared to companies and their top executives, governing board members and major investors without such a relationship with government? Would companies controlled or owned by family members, friends, associates, political, partisan-politics or personal financial donors or allies of elected or unelected government officials or employees, relevant or irrelevant to the decision-making process, or others connected to any of these, be chosen or given special consideration for such a relationship with government? Would the US Congress legislate a strict and harshly enforceable law prohibiting government officials and employees and their relatives and business and financial associates from, directly or indirectly, engaging any in, or any combination of them of, buying, selling, owning, trading or brokering stock or bond interests (equity instruments) or any other financial interest in a company with a government investment or ownership interest in it, as well as barring them from employment in or contracting with such a company? Could this merged government-business relationship become a practice at all levels of government -- federal, state and local -- and become acceptably the norm at taxpayer-money expense?

If applicable companies are proven financially sound, according to an external audit of the companies and their externally audited historical-to-date financial records, then they do not need and should not receive such taxpayer money. If their financial condition is determined to be problematic, then they should not receive such taxpayer money, either. In any case, if they want or need money, let them apply for a loan for the desired money to lending institutions or sources that serve businesses, as is and has been the norm historically.

This dubious relationship between government and businesses or industries is not analogous to that of the government making loans to financial-condition qualifying small businesses through the Small Business Administration (SBA) or providing seed-money grants and tax breaks, etc., to kickstart start-up companies of new industries, such as wind-turbine-energy, solar-energy, geothermal-energy, biofuels and electric-vehicle companies, as well as to medical and other vital scientific research-development-and-innovation institutions or companies broadly, overall, benefitting US society -- prospectively, as worthy award applicants, since the US Congressional Chips and Science Act of 2022, able to receive federal funding, CHIPS and Science Act Summary: Energy, Climate, and Science Provisions   Bipartisan Policy Center.

Another restraint on the rapid rise in tariff-related inflation is that affected companies are attempting to delay and manage the range and rate of price increases so as to avoid inflicting sudden sticker, that is, price, shock on their customer populations that would incur much customer intense dissatisfaction, resentment and rapid collective pullback in the scale of their purchases. They could accomplish this by easing in, gradually making, necessary price increases and decreasing the volume of their imports, resulting in periodic and alternating or rolling shortages (rotational undersupply and shortages, akin to stressed electrical-grid power-supply shifting-location brownouts and blackouts), already observed, of staple and high-turnover import-associated or impacted products, as well as in, as an alternative, likewise shortages in their inventories of domestic products, and the strategic discontinuation altogether from their inventory offerings of select both import and domestic products, to mitigate reductions in their positive cash flows and profit margins, undermined by their significant expenditures on tariffs.  Chain-location and multilocational companies can close operations at an as indicated needed number of lowest output or earning and profit-making sites for this purpose.  Inevitably, impacted businesses must in the near term pass forward to their business-to-business buyers and retail customers their tariff expenses, to recoup them, in the form of price increases in order for them to protect their positive cash flows and profit margins from shrinkage and trending negative, and to provide consistent and reliable otherwise full product spectrum availability, to their customers and their satisfaction on this business function, virtually free of or with a minimum of or rare major product shortages over the long term.

Across-the-board (comprehensive) or extensive tariffs on imports raise the costs and consequential prices of US producer products that are made with foreign inputs, wholesaler-importers of foreign inputs and finished goods, retailers of domestic and foreign goods, the prices of retail customers and also drive up prices because of reduced foreign price competition with competitor domestic producers.

(US importer-paid tariffs are added to the importer's business operating expenses on the business P&L statement (profit-and-loss statement) whose bottom-line result is either a business operating financial profit or loss amount, in which the dollar-and-cents amount of the profit or the loss is its size, being the magnitude of the profit or loss, or less likely is a break-even result wherein its revenues, gross income to the business, are equal to its total expenses and wherein there is neither a business profit nor a business loss [for the business].  As a business cost and thereby expense class, the total amounts of the tariffs incurred, paid and reported by the importer in a P&L reporting quarter or year, reduces its bottom-line profit status or increases its loss status and in any case decreases the beforehand importer's profit-basis markup on the prices of import products paid by the importers.  To restore and sustain that profit-basis markup percentage on newly tariffed products and on already tariffed products with increased tariffs (the total of the import product purchase price plus the paid tariff, with a profitability, fractionally taking into account business operating expenses, markup on the total), that they buy from foreign exporters, as well as to anchor and stabilize their business-survival profitability, importers (business-to-business wholesalers and retailers to consumers) must commensurately expand, wholly and fully apply, the markup on the new, tariff-impacted, increased pricing state of affairs on those imported products that they resale to other businesses or retail consumers.)   

For now, the evident trend is that of incipient tariff-related inflation, that may notch up to a self-stabilizing but upwardly fluid terminus or that may rage and require drastic Federal Reserve Bank, US Treasury and other federal government economic-control interventions into the economy to restrain and manage.

Trump's MAGA-GOP tariffs are another major federal tax, in the name of a tariff on foreign business and imports, imposed on and paid directly or subsequently and forthrightly downstream in and circulating throughout the US market economy by all major US businesses and retail customers, and felt, as well as paid, by retail customers virtually upon every check-out cashier total purchase at a major, if not most of any size, business, that are in addition to traditional federal income taxes, and larger than federal income taxes and harshly constituting a significant percentage share of their income for low-income people and overwhelmingly for adolescents and younger children. They are a federal, national, sales tax, the same as a point-of-sale-and-purchase national consumption tax, and reduce the purchasing power of all.

His proposed fees on tourists visiting the USA from abroad, if imposed on prospective tourists, would be a financial deterrent to tourism to the USA from abroad and are a beat down on and diversion of the spending power of middle-income tourists from abroad visiting the US in their otherwise spending of that money on US business products and services while they are tourists in the US, with the government fees charged to visiting tourists going to the MAGA-GOP-controlled federal government's black hole of the US Treasury instead of going to US businesses and employment and generally to the US market economy. Back in early May of this year of 2025, I was in a conversation with a longtime stock-market investor about the effects of the MAGA-GOP Trump tariffs in which I was informed that the secretaries of the financial departments, like Scott Bessent and Howard Lutnick, of Trump’s executive branch cabinet were career businessmen and stock-market, including commodities, players and gamblers in investment companies and were not in any true sense, and depth-of-understanding, economists.

In addition to the assault on the US economy of the effect of the Trump MAGA-GOP's across-the-board tariffs on imports that are ultimately and definitively paid by US businesses and consumers, it is retailers, and worst of all, small and medium-sized business, including non-major restaurants, that soonest will suffer customer and income loss and scale down their costs with worker layoffs, in order for them to retain their profitability and survival, as well as fail financially, in their solvency and as going concerns, and go out of business, to start with, because of the nationwide, especially in the major cities, reductions in force, and their continuation, of federal civil service workers and ICE mass removal, deportation and intimidated flight of classes of refugee immigrants heretofore officially granted protected residency status by the US government, numbering in the high hundreds of thousands of persons, whose such status has been arbitrarily revoked by the Trump Administration, and many fold more undocumented immigrants, mainly of Latin America and Caribbean origin, from the grunge-labor, subminimum-wage, minimum-wage and small-business job market, which often depend for their profitability and survival on the latter labor pool. Many of the workers, and longtime resident small business owners and operators, of these three workforces will abruptly or shortly, and collectively, or en masse, lose their spending from loss of earnings, their savings and bank accounts, their homeownership investments or rental residences, furniture and appliances, their cars, etc., and not continue to pay their creditors for the bills associated with these and typical other monthly bills. Many others stigmatized and targeted for the eventual same fate will also abruptly or shortly lose their ability to financially support themselves and their families. DEI (the acronym for diversity, equity and inclusion, also the equivalent of the USA motto of E Pluribus Unum) means equal opportunity in employment-hiring and educational-matriculation consideration and selection irrespective of the race, color, gender, creed, religion or national origin of applicants for employment with an employer or admission to an educational institution, especially one of higher learning such as a college or university. Trump and the MAGA GOP are against equal opportunity in these regards and societal socioeconomic pluralism. Rather, they are for white-preference and dominance monocentricism, reversion of the USA back to it, to what was termed WASP (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant, extending to all of white British heritage) dominated and largely run USA prior to the 1960s, during and after which the USA became strongly ethnically plural, among white people, in its governance and economics, including with Irish, Germans, Nordics, Italians, Jews and miscellaneous, but always appreciably WASP-assimilated Dutch and French. The predecessor of Trumpian MAGA in recent times was right-wing media's condemnation of and crusade against multiculturalism and social pluralism, exactly the same as their favoring and advocating for white-preference and dominance monocentricism, or such monocultural-centricism in all walks of political, educational, religious (Christian), cultural and socioeconomic life in society. Multiculturalism and pluralism diminutively mean to them multiculturalism and pluralism that are not summarily white, Christian (name-brand, flexible Christian or, tolerably for them, Western secularism) and capitalist. Trump even personally entreated the commissioners of the NFL and MLB to end DEI, meaning purge black people from participation and presence of every kind in these sports and consequently in related sports media, in which his entreaties were unsuccessful. He may have done the same to no avail with the NBA, IOC (the International Olympic Commission governing international Olympic sports) and FIFA (in English translation the International Federation of Football Association, in which internationally football is the term Americans of the USA use for soccer) and may try yet with colleges and universities. However, he is reported to have readily gotten acquiescence from the McDonald's Corp. and Target Corp., unlike the companies Costco and Goldman Sachs Bank that swiftly rejected that bigoted, unethical and illegal racially discriminatory request.

The Trump MAGA Presidency has also fired, terminated the employment of, top black American officials throughout the federal government, including, of questionable legality, the Ph.D. librarian of the Library of Congress, a woman, has ordered federal agencies to end DEI practices and remove multicultural and historical pluralism representation media and instruction in and from them, including in the US armed forces, and to reinstate to US military bases the names of Civil War Confederacy generals in armed rebellion against the Constitutional Bill-of-Rights Republic of the USA, whose names, to the best of my immediate recall, were removed by a legislative act of Congress, in which only the US Congress can make federal law, mint new law that is not in the US Constitution nor in violation of or prohibited by the US Constitution, and renamed since then with the names of honorable or honorable and heroic persons loyal to the Constitutional Bill-of-Rights (our democratic rights) Republic of the USA and Trump issued an executive order authorizing contractors with the federal government to, albeit illegally, racially segregate in violation of the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution and a 1954 Supreme Court ruling affirming that racial segregation laws and practices in government institutions or affiliated entities were in violation of the 14th Amendment provision of equal protection [and rights] under the law of all citizens/persons [in the USA], and thus illegal [and null and void], and wherein the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1968 outlawed racial discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodations, including business offerings and services. Now and since the resurgence of MAGA, virtually every time there is a disaster lately in the USA, the MAGA media and lynch mob cry out "DEI," as the cause and culprit, as in the rash of Trump-MAGA-policies responsible airplane crashes in or of the USA, except for a helicopter only crash that was piloted by a highly experienced and competent black man who until then had a perfect flying record but whose helicopter, with passengers, descended and crashed, killing all occupants, without an explanation then, as for the current flood deaths in Kerr County, Texas, an white affluent county with no black public officials, but forgetting to also blame DEI for the reckless and pointless deaths of military servicemen in Lithuania and North Africa under the Trump-Hegseth command of US armed forces, as well as of the two multimillion-dollar US fighter jets from a US aircraft-carrier ship that fell or were shot down and plunged into the deep water off of the coast of Yemen recently.

Moreover, MAGA educated-fool, corruption-aura and racial demagogue Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida went so far as to blame, a few years back, woke and DEI for the bank meltdown series and collapses of Silicon Valley Bank, Olde Republic Bank and Signature Bank, whose boards of directors and executives were white and whose personnel were primarily white. MAGA DeSantis, a demagogue, like Trump, always frothing at the mouth for a scapegoat with which to juice, gin up and incite the madcap MAGA lynch mob, even proclaimed and argued that slavery of black people was good for them. Aside from the said smokescreen, using the code or dog-whistle terms woke and DEI as substitute words for Afro-heritage black people, rhetorical and political race warfare against such Afro black people by DeSantis, antidemocracy DeSantis attempted as governor of Florida around the time of the 2022 midterm US Congressional and national elections to contravene the unalienable US Constitutional First Amendment freedom of the press and related freedom of speech rights of private enterprise internet social media hosting and publishing platforms, with the constitutionally legal rights to set their own terms of service for users and associate with or not with whomever, or whatever entities, of their choosing and dictate to and command some of them, with threats of multi-thousands of dollars daily fines, to reinstate service to and host political leaders, including Trump, involved in or associated as instigators with the 01-06-2021 insurrectionist attempt to two-pronged violently overthrow and administratively disrupt and corrupt the ceremonial certification of the Electoral College electoral vote count by the two houses of the US Congress and vice president overturn the November of 2020 election of candidate Joe Biden as the new, incoming US president. Needless to say, the platforms filed a law suit in federal district court against anti-Constitutional, anti-US America and legal-system-weaponizer, bluffer DeSantis, whose orders were summarily found in court to be in violation of the affected social media platforms' First Amendment freedom of the press and speech rights (to accept or reject speech and speakers, discretionarily, like any other publisher, be it a book, magazine, movie, music, stage, etc.). He conducted a woke and DEI purge campaign of the entire state government of Florida and thereafter against Disney World in Florida, as a start and stimulus for other entities within the state of Florida to do on their own initiative, While conducting his campaign he was published in photos showing with some black people among white people in them, Machiavellian political duplicity strategy and model. If one is anti-US Constitutional or unconstitutional, in words or deeds, or both, then one is anti-American and anti-America in reference to the USA and the Constitutional Bill-of-Rights (democratic-rights) Republic of the United States of America. Race war against black people of the USA is the theme of or underlying theme of the hangings, burning and bombing attacks of individual, group and mob phobia and rampage attacks, as well as all forms of social, institutional and economic discrimination by overt and covert "gatekeepers," categorically against and on black people (to kill, eliminate or rid for some and to subordinate and disenfranchise for others), sometimes openly declared or brazen and sometimes unsaid, at all levels of white society, and by their collaborator non-white others, including other black people, males and females, "lowly" to high.

They demagogue woke (democratic rights, and their fair and egalitarian enforcement, political consciousness and activism) and DEI, the equivalent of racial, ethnic, gender, creed and religious affiliation or non-affiliation equality of rights and treatment under the law and participation in USA society, aka E Pluribus Unum, the national motto of the USA, as reverse discrimination against white people, as being against and undoing of traditional white preference, preferential treatment, privilege and monopoly or virtual monopoly ownership, power and control.

Trump is a politically, strategically showmanship, two-faced double dealer fitting bard William Shakespeare's trope "False face doth hide what false heart doth know" and what in political psychology is known as the duplicitous Machiavellian personality. Figuratively, he will look you in the eyes earnestly and shake your hand firmly or smile broadly and affectionately or intensely in your face and thereafter stab or shoot you mortally in the back, gut or brain without a hesitation, wince, pang of conscience, pity or a scintilla of remorse.
